Communion (the Lord’s Table) is a time of reflection and intimacy with Christ when we remember what He did for us on the cross. Christ told His closest followers at their last meal together to “do this in remembrance of Me.” Only those who truly know Him, who have purposely accepted Him as their Savior from sin and made a conscious decision to follow and obey Him, are invited to share in communion. Others are asked to observe until the time when they too accept Him as their own Savior.

Children’s Participation in Communion: Children may take communion according to the guidelines for adults; that is, they must have accepted Christ as their Savior. It is important for parents to explain the solemnity and significance of communion to their children before they are allowed to participate. Under their parents’ guidance, children who have made a clear profession of faith in Christ can share in this special time.

Our guidelines for communion are by no means meant to be exclusive or to make anyone feel left out. The purpose is to preserve the priceless intimacy between Christ and His “Body,” the church, made up of those who believe in His name and trust Him as Savior and Lord. It is our desire that all would come to know Him in this way.

We observe the Lord’s Table on the first weekend of each month.
