Forgiveness and Glory come to Common Ground!
Forgiveness...On April 12, our quarterly meeting of Bridge Builders was held. This year’s venue is based on Ken Sande’s “The Peacemaker” Bible study, which gives solid, Biblically-based steps to resolving conflict and restoring relationships in almost every given situation.
Our morning started with a continental breakfast and Gwen Walker sharing a brief video clip and a few opening words. Then Pastor Brandon gave a short presentation from the Peacemakers study on forgiveness and its benefits. Afterward, we broke into small groups to discuss pre-determined questions which proved to be both thought-provoking and beneficial for all who participated.
We look forward to our next Bridge Builders meeting, which is open to everyone. It is a great opportunity to explore God’s way of communication and grow in appreciation of those who may be different.
Glory...Our next event was the Common Ground movie night held on May 2. The evening began with greetings and prayer followed by a dinner of burgers, hot dogs, chips, cookies and of course, what’s a movie without popcorn? The featured film was Glory Road, a true story based on an obscure Texas college in the 60s and its pursuit of respect, on and off the court. The film gave a comprehensive look at the complexities of our society and the courage of the coaches and team to work through those challenges. After the movie, a stimulating question and answer period was held. Click here to view pictures from the evening.
Look for our next Common Ground event and plan to attend! Let’s help to make HCC a church family that embraces all cultures for Christ.
